inspiration....

my mom called me this morning and read me part of the editor's letter from an art magazine she gets. it was pretty powerful...i'll paraphrase:
the editor quotes van Goethe, "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
then she says, "Let no fear or doubt creep in - take charge of your dreams and ideas and make magic!"

so...i'm trying to make some magic today, in the form of sleep masks/eye shades. not as easy as i thought - the binding around the edges is annoying and time consuming. unfortunately i am just really out of practice with my sewing skills! but, i'm getting back on track. these aren't amazing, but here's a pic (leopard print cotton flannel, and hand-dyed silk):




don't look too closely at stitching lines! ;)
